To Mine or Not to Mine?

Help the Government determine whether a proposed mine should go ahead.

In this project students study mining to understand the properties of minerals, issues of renewability, and the economic, environmental, social, and political impact of mining. By applying eduSTEM’s design thinking process, students analyse the pros and cons of opening a proposed mine, make recommendations, and develop practical solutions to contain or prevent possible negative consequences of mining activities.

Key facts:

To Mine or Not to Mine can be tailored to run as a 2-day inset, or can be run across an entire school term.
